Born in Glasgow in 1960, of Scottish and Ghanaian descent, Maud Sulter was an artist, writer, activist and poet. She consistently and persistently engaged herself, as a Blackwoman, with questions of race and gender inequality, particularly amongst African diasporas in Europe.
2015. Natasha Magigi lives in Deptford, a few streets away from the gallery. Back from a year of touring, her acting career is receiving early success. Recent credits include To Kill a Mockingbird and Streetcar Named Desire.
As a contemporary black woman, the interpretation of Maud Sulter’s words and poetry will be her own.
