Could be Good introduce our new project space at Enclave Deptford with our first exhibition of works by our artist in residence Ifeoma Orjiekwe. Ifeoma will be sharing work she has been making at the project space, exploring narratives of feminine beauty through repetition and pattern, drawn from her personal experience of nigerian culture and art.

Ifeoma describes her works as “rich and juicy, I love the way the colour makes patterns energetic. Its very beautiful and exquisite like Nigerian art it’s very powerful and strong. Earrings, bracelets, african textiles and clothes show who we are.”

Ifeoma Orjiekwe is a self taught artist living in Deptford, South East London. This will be her first solo show. Previously Ifeoma has worked with Deptford based disability arts charity Heart n Soul and artist Ben Connors to create a touring studio called ‘Agozie Art’ (Blessed Art). It toured the Southbank Centre, the British Museum and Tate Britain. Could be Good have partnered with Heart n Soul and Ifeoma to work on a pilot for a community fashion label called The Many.

Could be Good
We seek to reveal latent creativity in our communities. We work with children, young people, families, adults, community groups and organisations, to communicate ideas and make art. We focus on collaborating with people who are not formally part of the creative industries or those at the margins of the art world. This supports our wider exploration and celebration of unconventional creativity and alternative art makers.

The Project Space
An independent gallery space devoted to making and exhibiting art made with the community. Could be Good will host residencies, workshops and exhibitions. If you are interested in working with us please do get in touch. Drop us an email or following us on instagram and twitter!
